HSE's INTERACTIVE ONLINE FLOORING SELECTION TOOL

Has been set up to help designers, architects and employers identfy the type of flooring likely to retain their slip-resistant properties when contaminated with common liquids.

First the user selects their industry, then the specific work area where the flooring will be used.  Step three asks whether the floor is likely to be frequently subjected to 'contamination' eg rainwater, oil, grease, cardboard, product wrapping etc.  The results is displayed in Step four, which lists the flooring materials likely to be appropriate, those likely to be appropriate with additional controls and those unlikely to be appropriate for the intended conditions.  Each material can be clicked on to access more in-depth information.
